We are excited to offer an advanced diploma course that is designed to offer the student knowledge and usable skills in a variety of basic & advanced skincare, radio frequency techniques, advanced peels and other mechanical exfoliation methods and devices.

 

The graduate will be able to offer numerous technology-based services in a medispa, laser clinic, dermatology clinic and advanced spa. The professional graduate will be able to join an industry that is booming and offers many financial rewards.

Prerequisites

Grade 12 or Mature Student Status (18 years +) with passing score on Wonderlic Test

Graduation Requirements

Student must obtain a 70% overall average with no grade less than 60% in all examinations, to be awarded the Diploma

 

Course Length: 14 weeks – full-time – Monday – Friday 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM

Skincare Fundamentals (4 weeks)

  • Anatomy and physiology

  • Professional image

  • Sanitation and sterilization methods

  • Skin typing and skin conditions

  • Disorders and diseases

  • Skincare products (Image Skincare)

  • Consultation medical history and consent forms

  • Variety of facial equipment (steamer, high frequency, ultrasonic, galvanic)

  • Variety of facial treatments and techniques

  • Relaxation facial massage techniques (Swedish massage, lymphatic drainage massage)

  • Essential oils and aromatherapy (Eve Taylor)

Advanced Skincare (3 weeks)

  • Skin nutrition

  • Cosmetic ingredients

  • Advanced skin assessment

  • Skin analysis using VISIA

  • Customized facial

  • Holistic skincare

  • Lymphatic system

  • Oncology skin care protocols

  • Skincare product knowledge

  • Introduction to a medispa cosmeceutical line

Microdermabrasion and Chemical Peels (2 weeks)

  • History of exfoliants

  • Assessing client suitability

  • Indications and contraindications

  • Understanding wound healing

  • Microdermabrasion and other methods of advanced exfoliants

  • Introduction to designer chemical peels

  • Delivery of microdermabrasion and chemical peel treatments

Microneedling, OxyGeneo, Dermaplaning (2 weeks)

  • Healing peeled or exfoliated skin

  • Indications and contra-indications

  • Dermaplaning procedure and protocols

  • Epidermal Collagen Induction Therapy (MCIT) – Microneedling with eDermaStamp device

  • OxyGeneo protocols

  • Client assessment and waiver forms

  • Perform a dermaplaning, microneedlling and OxyGeneo treatment

  • Pre and post-treatment recommendations

Clinic Operations & Job Coaching (3 weeks)

  • Review of clinic daily operations and professional protocols

  • Review of daily performance expectations during clinic hours

  • Client service and retention

  • Client booking using the Insight software system

  • Performing all services on clients in accordance with industry standards

  • Promoting series of treatments to achieve desired results

  • Demonstrate responsibility and accountability

  • Retail product sales

  • Career opportunity and interview preparation

    •     Online job search guidance

    •     Resume preparation assistance

    •     Preparing a cover letter

    •     Participate in mock interviews and review interview questions
